Almost every European country now has at least a no frills budget airlines. Easy Jet and Ryan Air are becoming well known and popular in Great Britain and Ireland. Germany has four or five low-cost airline and cheap flight specialists. Meanwhile, have in Sweden, SAS recently its own budget offshoot called Snowflake.
At first glance the fares that airlines can requireseems ridiculously low, Ryan Air have given their flights away almost for free in the past – even if you pay more to the airport in the amount of around twenty UK pounds. But where's the catch? Is there a catch? Can you really compete with the airplane Europe to travel without spending a fortune?
Here's the deal, if you want to travel in Europe on a cheap budget:
First, the low-cost airlines in Europe nearly always out of town provincial airports – often about forty or fifty miles from therespective city centers. These can be up to two hours travel time for travel at each end. You have to pay for the bus or train to get from your airport to the city center. Make sure you add this price, put the cost of your ticket when comparing prices between cheap flight deals and the prices of the mainstream carriers into account. In most cases, the major airlines fly into the city airport and thus cut your travel time and costs for an additionalTraffic.
If you are unlucky enough to miss a flight, you could literally be in a very rural airport overnight with all the food joints are glued shut and no way back into the town or city.
Second, you will only pay for what you do. The European budget airlines may not offer in-flight service for food and drinks. Or, if they do, they will charge you for it at a premium rate. Coffee, sandwiches and beer can be very expensive indeed. To be fair, many of the flightsonly one or two hours duration so snacks and drinks may not be such a big deal.
Third, find out – the total travel time and compare that cost. For example: It takes five hours from the center of Glasgow in Scotland to central London take the train and costs about twenty-five pounds sterling each way.
Well – you could pick up a cheap flight from Glasgow to London, only to discover that both of your airports are forty miles from the city center. Thatimmediately adds three hours to your travel time, not counting the waiting around at airports, baggage handling and all the extra effort that goes with it. You may also pay separately for the bus or train from the airport to the center and vice versa. If your flight is extremely cheap you might have more money in the long run for a less comfortable journey. Check it all out carefully in advance if you can.
Fourthly, the quoted cheap airfare ticket prices areAPEX only for travelers. You may have to pay a lot extra if you need to change your flight time. Cheap airfare prices are also usually available only if you buy well in advance – buying the day before or the day a great premium on the price.
